WELCOME

The Barnes Workhouse Fund is a local grant-making trust, which supports both voluntary organisations and individual applicants. Walsingham Lodge, the Fund's sheltered housing in Barnes, provides accommodation for approximately 40 residents.

The Fund's mission is set out in the "object" clause of our constitution as below:

"The object of the Charity shall be the benefit of the inhabitants of the area of the Ancient Parish of Barnes" as follows:

  • The relief of the aged, impotent and poor
  • The relief of distress and sickness
  • The provision and support of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation (with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants in the interests of social welfare)
  • The provision and support of educational facilities.
  • The relief of the aged, impotent and poor

The boundaries of the "Ancient Parish of Barnes" broadly correspond with the present postal area of London SW13.
